“It’s the best rock and roll I’ve heard in 20 f**king years. These guys are so talented, they take my breath away.”— Sir Elton John

One of rock’s most headline-making bands of the last year is on the road again. After non-stop touring in 2018 across the States and internationally in early 2019, with a majority of sold-out dates, Greta Van Fleet brings the “March Of The Peaceful Army Tour” back to the U.S. It’s been a wild 2019 for the four-piece from Frankenmuth, Michigan, after the release of their debut album, Anthem of the Peaceful Army” (Lava/Republic) last October, has continued to dominate charts. Their latest single, “You’re The One” is the band’s fourth No. 1 entrance onto the Billboard charts and the album in full landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart when it was released.

“Anthem of the Peaceful Army” was collectively written by all four band members, producing ten original songs that explore a variety of topics that include fresh starts, love, integrity, innocence, adventure, diversity and peace, the life cycle and its inherent responsibilities, courage, masked deceptions, revolution and truth. Blending rock, soul and blues, Jake’s blazing guitar riffs, Josh’s soaring, powerful vocals, Danny’s thunderous drums, and Sam’s swaggering basslines and keys, it creates a menagerie of musical elements.

In addition to their debut performance on “Saturday Night Live” in January, Greta Van Fleet was honored with four Grammy Award nominations for “Best Rock Song,” “Best Rock Performance,” “Best New Artist” and ultimately winning the award for “Best Rock Album” at the February award show, for their sophomore EP, “From The Fires” that birthed the hit “Highway Tune.” The Pollstar Awards also named the band the “2019 Best New Headliner.”

ABOUT GRETA VAN FLEET

Greta Van Fleet is four young musicians, brothers Josh (vocals), Jake (guitar) and Sam (bass/keys) Kiszka, and longtime family friend Danny Wagner (drums).  Josh and Jake are 21, Danny just turned 19 and Sam is 18, and are all from the tiny Michigan hamlet of Frankenmuth, known for its family-style chicken dinners and the world’s largest Christmas store.  All four were raised on their parents’ extensive vinyl collections (shared influences are Muddy Waters, Lightnin’ Hopkins, The Who, Jimi Hendrix), which helped give birth to the music they make, a high-energy hybrid of rock’n’roll, blues and soul.  Each band member has killer musical chops and Josh has a voice that is simply jaw-dropping. While rock’n’roll is prevalent in the band’s catalogue of music, what binds the four together is their love of the blues.   Their individual tastes in music is another story:  Sam is a big fan of John Denver, Joni Mitchell and Bach; Danny listens to a lot of folk music – Crosby, Stills, Nash, Bob Dylan, and, courtesy of Sam, Joni Mitchell.  Josh – who hadn’t ever entertained the idea of being a singer – he planned to pursue a career in theatre and film – is very world music oriented – African spiritual, Native American, tribal music; and Jake is a fan of Janis Joplin, Hendrix, Clapton, Elmo James, and Sam and Dave.  But when you put them all together, and they channel their individual energies, it all adds up to Greta Van Fleet. Greta Van Fleet’s shared message with their music is to spread “peace, love and unity,” and their collective goal in terms of their live shows is to have people “walk out of the show feeling invigorated, energized, exhilarated, and to take that feeling out into the world.”  The band will release its debut album Summer 2018.
